About the Artist
Bernardette began her tertiary art studies at the Malta School of Art, Europe and completed a Master of Art degree
at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) / UNSW. She has participated in group shows in Malta and Australia and was a member of the multicultural artists group “All For You”. ‘AFY’ were a group of artists who connected at the COFA as students and graduates.
Before moving to Australia, Bernardette lived in the culturally rich island of Malta, where she had participated as an onsite artist during the annual cultural ‘Notte Bianca’ (White Night) event in Malta’s Baroque Capital City of Valletta.
During her career as a corporate in-house graphic designer in Malta, Bernardette was responsible for the design
and project management of the publications, interior and exterior graphic promotional material for the
National Student Travel Foundation (NSTF) 30th anniversary Restoration Sponsorship Project of the 1659 Baroque painting “The Martyrdom of St Catherine” by Mattia Preti. An unforgettable experience where she had access to witness renowned restorer Giuseppe Mantella and his team ‘Sante Guido Restauro e Conservazione’ in action as well as the honour to be invited on the judging panel alongside Giuseppe Mantella and distinguished art historians.
Bernardette recently participated in the open artist studios in the inaugural Northern Illawarra Art Trail event, she contributed her graphic design skills toward designing the trail marker banner that was displayed outside each artist studio. The banner concept is a stylised aerial representation of the spectacular Northern Illawarra where the bush
embraces the sand, surf and ocean.
Alongside her art practice, Bernardette runs a freelance business support & graphic design business, Biz Studio.
