As a Maltese-Australian artist, the natural surrounding of the stunning NSW South Coast I now call home is my muse and inspiration for my art practice, as well as the deep connection to my cultural heritage. Working and experimenting across different methods and materials mainly in drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photography I create themed bodies of work that deals with subject matter that responds and reflects on memories, sentiments of places and the environment which has a deep emotional resonance on me. My aim is to create thought provoking and evocative works to instil an awareness and realisation for the viewer.
iNo Man is an island
Is a relationship to memories and physiological sentiments of the island representation as a place of isolation
‘living in a bubble’. Whilst the cocoon is an isolated, yet safe environment a rebirth is occurring.
Layers of protection provide a safe haven during the challenges that lay ahead. However, the intertwining strands
and layers can also become the captor that constrains its victim.
The floating object and overlapping shadows are a representation of displacement and isolation from the object
in a state of limbo.
